1- Les mines de l’Anti-Atlas oriental /
The Mines in the Eastern Anti-Atlas

Les mines présentées dans cette section se répartissent dans tout l’Anti-Atlas oriental et le Ta-
filalt-Maider (figs. 1.01, 1.02). La plupart (tabl. 1.1) sont localisées dans des zones faillées du
socle précambrien des boutonnières de l’Ougnat (Touroug-El Hamda, Bou-Madine ; fig. 1.03)
et du J. Saghro (Imiter, Tiouit, Bouskour). La mine d’Imi n’Tourza est ouverte dans l’Ordovi-
cien inférieur de l’ensellement entre les deux massifs précambriens. C’est une mine de fer sé-
dimentaire, au contraire des autres, qui sont d’origine hydrothermale. La mine d’Oumjrane-Bou
n’Has est située loin de l’axe cristallin, ce qui est remarquable pour un gisement hydrothermal
de cuivre. La région comporte de nombreuses autres mines dans le Tafilalt, dont l’exploitation
est intermittente.

The mines presented in this section are distributed in the Eastern Anti-Atlas Belt and neigh-
bouring Tafilalt-Maider regions (figs. 1.01, 1.02). Most of them (table 1.1) are located in
faulted zones of the Precambrian massifs (“boutonnières”, inliers). This is true for the
Touroug-El Hamda and Bou-Madine mines in the Ougnat Massif (fig. 1.03), and for the Imiter,
Tiouit and Bouskour mines in the Jbel Saghro. The Imi n’Tourza mine is opened in the Lower
Ordovician beds in the structural saddle between both basement massifs; it is a syngenetic,
oolithic iron mine contrary to the others, which derive from epigenetic, hydrothermal circula-
tions. The Oumjrane-Bou n’Has mine is located far from the Precambrian axis, which is very
remarkable for such an epigenetic copper deposit. Several minor mines are scattered in the
Tafilalt area, being generally characterized by intermittent exploitation.
